What is Tai Chi and Qi Gong?

Tai Chi and Qigong are ancient Chinese practices that focus on gentle movement, deep breathing, and mental focus. Often described as “meditation in motion,” Tai Chi consists of slow, flowing sequences, while Qigong emphasizes specific exercises to cultivate the body’s vital energy.

  • Improves Balance & Stability: It helps strengthen muscles and increases coordination, which is vital for preventing falls.
  • Reduces Stress & Anxiety: The focus required encourages a calm, mental clarity that lowers stress levels.
  • Increases Flexibility: Gentle stretching movements help keep joints mobile and muscles supple without the strain of high-impact exercise.
  • Boosts Overall Fitness: Despite its gentle nature, Tai Chi provides a solid workout that improves muscle strength and aerobic conditioning.
